Dar es Salaam, the previous capital of Tanzania. This is where I went for the month to get a base in the Swahili language. |
It is right on the coast of the Indian Ocean with beautiful beaches, but weather that's hot and humid. I left some clothes in my suitcase for a couple of days and they had grown mold. |
Jambo...Hello Lesson one in Swahili is complete--learning greetings. |
I don't even think this is the fullest I saw a boat. It's a good thing everyone is skinny. People work hard to earn a living fishing. |
I went with Patrick and Anna LaRochelle and there 2 kids (Luke and Miriam). This is bed-time Bible stories. |
Hanging out with our grammar teacher's family. |
All the people at the AIM guest house with us. They open up rooms, cook lunch, help do laundry so that we can learn Swahili quickly. |
Our GPA teacher Aznath. GPA is learning by only verbal repetition in the language you are trying to learn. It's very effective, but different than tradition language learning. |
Thanks for praying while I studied in Tanzania. I was able to get a good base and can now speak like a small child, which is a good start. I'm learning more and more here in Nyankunde, but it's a little bit different dialect of Swahili.
Pray for me, I had a tough day with losing a patient after she bled during a delivery. Pray that I would be compassionate, kind and that I would work for the Lord in all the things I do.
